| @1: I agree. Alan Wake wasn't really about the action (not that it was bad). The whole appeal of the franchise (at least, to me) is the story, and do we really need another horde mode? At least it hasn't gone to multiplayer...yet. With that said, I'm still really looking forward to this. I waited forever for Alan Wake, and loved it, and I'm sure this will turn out to be pretty good. I do think the achievement title "One Day I’ll Buy a Stapler" is funny, though. | ||

| I too am a HUGE Alan Wake fan and I can see where this list may appear to take away from the spirit of the original, i.e. mood and story vs. run-n-gun. Having half of the achievements focused on Arcade may lead some to think this and those feelings may be legit but as with most things we are just going to have to wait and see. I have a feeling that as the episodic nature of the game continues (and lets be honest you KNOW more will come) you will probably see the arcade achievements less. | ||

| Remember when you are FORCED to get collectibles? Me either. If you don't want the game to get tedious/boring from collecting things, then don't collect them. Take a hit in your game completion instead of whining about it. Personally, I like collecting things/finding things. I like exploration. I play a game more than once because I want to, not because the game demands I do it. Also, you guys are really exaggerating the "emphasis" on the Arcade mode. Only 5 out of 12 achievements are Arcade. And 5 of them are definitely Story mode, with the last two being seemingly either mode/accumulative. A perfect balance. Excited to get this. Achievements seem easy enough and I'm excited for the story. | ||

| I've really been looking forward to this game ever since I heard it announced. I FLOVED the original. One of my favorite games of the last several years! I've stayed away from any preview write ups for the game, so I don't know what arcade is. It sounds like something that will be a pain. I don't particularly like score based challenges, but whatever I'm up for the challenge. I got the full gamerscore in the original so I will be determined for this one as well. Looking forward to surviving with just a flashlight & flares. Those challenges were fun in the retail game. As for 2,000 taken killed, sounds like a lot, but arcade mode presumably should take care of that with little effort. | ||

| @#34 - I agree with you. I don't mind collecting things in games, but only if it's something that at least makes a little sense to the game world. I hate when games just put some arbitrary collectible that has nothing to do with anything, just because they want you to waste time looking for them. I usually play each game at least twice as well. First time to enjoy it, without a guide, second time with a guide to find what I missed or harder difficulty and whatnot. And hey a second time through gives me a chance to get caught up on weekly GiantBomb bombcasts while I play. | ||

| I enjoyed AW but I'll probably wait for this to go on a DotW, it's not a game I feel I have to buy when it releases. @32 "i know they're meant to be boring & tedious & only their to extend game-time" Lol, that's what you think, that doesn't make it true. Collectibles usually tell you more about a character or a past event or are there for exploration. You've turned them into being "boring and tedious" because you feel the need to get every achievement in a game. Don't blame the developers for your "need". There are people who enjoy them and enjoy having achievements tied to them. | ||

| @43 So what did the coffee cans told me about AW? That he drunk a lot of coffee? I also don't like collectibles, that are only there for the purpose of being collected. The manuscript pages on the other hand were quite got. All collectibles should tell stories about the game characters (Manuscript pages, Gears2, ...) or unlock stuff when you collect 1/4,1/2,all of them. Also depends on how its executed. Take the Darkness for example, where every collectible has a number attached to it, so yould always see which ones you are missing. So you play through the game, get what ou get and come back later to get the ones you didn't find the first time around. Also there should always be a x/x counter for every level in a game. | ||

| @45 i agree.there were way to many collectables in alan wake.i liked the manuscript pages the tv and radios also the beer can pyramids.oh yeah the signs to.they all added to the flavor.the coffee mugs were just an artifical extenson of the game and were not needed.it has become a huge problem in the industry and i dont like it.dead space and bioshock to got it right as you didnt have to find every single one to get you achievement and they both added to the game itself.thats my take.besides that i like the list and more alan wake is gonna be great.i just cant believe there is no coop.i wanna play as barry already | ||

| Really disappointed in this list, I was really hoping this would be a change in the XBLive arcade titles. MS needs to stop it with the only 12 achievements and 200 GS for its Arcade Games. Some games require more than just 12 achievements to hunt down. PSN games get this by having more than the typical 300 points for its arcade titles going up to the 1,200 point range for some of the more robust games. The 12/200 was fine in the early days of XBLA for games like Pac-Man, Galaga, Dig Dug, Rally X, but in this new age of XBLA its games shouldn't be compacted to fit into 12/200. | ||

| Just to make it clear to those mistaking this as an 'Alan Wake 2'; this isn't a sequel - Remedy made that clear months ago in their first announcement of the game. My guess is that it's purely an arcade title, made for fun, rather than what Alan Wake was. I do hope that there will be at least a taste of story somewhere, before Remedy announcing that Alan Wake 2 is in development. | ||

| @#34 So that's 50%. I'm currently playing thru Alan Wake for the first time and so far it seems to be 100% Story achievements. The argument then is that a game that at one point was a means of spinning a wonderful supernatural horror yarn (so far)is now having the tacked on horde mode (happening more and more). By your calculations that argument is valid. Truly I don't mind but the opinion is a credible one. @#43 Not trying to insult but I must ask. How long have you been gaming? From this generation going back there have been thousands of pointless collectibles that contributed nothing to the game they were in. If you been gaming 10-15 years just think of some of the BS games ask you to collect. In most cases though I agree that it is personal choice to gather said items. | ||
