Rock Band 3

Next Week's Rock Band Tracks Give You a Fat Lip

It's a funny old trio on the Rock Band store next week, with two tracks from Canadian punk rockers Sum 41, who first found success with "Fat Lip" in 2001 from their album, 'All Killer, No Filler' before releasing 'Does This look Infected?' a year later.

The lead single from that album is the second Sum 41 track you'll find for Rock Band next week, with "Still Waiting" joining "Fat Lip".

If 80s synth 'New Wave pop' is more your speed, then the third Rock Band track available next week is one from Tears for Fears and the third single from their 1985 album, "Songs From the Big Chair". And that's your lot. Have a little look see:

Single Tracks - 160 Microsoft Points each. X = 80 Microsoft Points per track for a Pro Guitar/Pro Bass upgrade O = support for keyboards

  • Sum 41 – “Fat Lip” X
  • Sum 41 – “Still Waiting”
  • Tears for Fears – “Head Over Heels” O

(All tracks are original master recordings)

Look out for them on the Xbox Live Marketplace from January 31st.

@9 If you go on the rock band music store, it shows you a list of which games they'll work on :).

Not been excited about any new songs for ages now, and the wait carries on it seems... Where's Muse, Guns 'n' Roses (classic Guns, not "Axl Rose & friends"), Rammstein, Within Temptation, Nightwish, Rod Stewart? Just some of the artists who in my opinion have been overlooked... maybe one day...

Maybe if they added more songs from; Metallica, Sleeping with Sirens, My Chemical Romance, A Day To Remember and definately Between the Buried and Me then I'd be a happy. Sum-41 are quite a good band but I just would not play their songs on Rock Band.
I'd love to be able to get Rock Band Customs but forking over £65 A year is pretty ridiculous to me :(

Best song in Donnie Darko, with the second already being on the RB3 disc. Nice!

@11 I can help a bit with that. Axl owns all material related to the original GNR. The only reason they released Chinese Democracy on Rock Band 2 was to promote their album and try and boost sales. And since Axl controls all of the original band's material, and since there's no need for him to promote or whore it out and since Axl has enough money stashed away that he doesn't need royalties, that's probably why none of the old material has been released. Now, since the original GNR are being inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame later this year, and since VH1 usually covers the awards ceremony and since MTV owns VH1 and MTV controls the availible content for the Rock Band library, there's a very slight possibility that we might see some GNR stuff released around April, if Axl is feeling generous. I wouldn't hold my breath, though. It's the same reason that there's no Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd DLC. Those guys have so much money saved that the royalties made from Rock Band DLC sales just wouldn't be worth their time. I know it sounds lame, but it's the truth. I'm beginning to think Elton John's the same way, though I bet he'd open up his library if they agreed that all proceeds went to charity.

Please can we have a SEPERATE FUCKIN' SECTION in the Game Marketplace for these now?! Every single week in just Rock Band, Yoostar and other similar stuff. Brilliant for those that give a shit about those games, a fuckin' nightmare for everyone else. New dash sucks ass.

@15: That' bit about MTV controlling RB's material is completely incorrect. They didn't control it completely when they were owned by MTV Games, and now that Harmonix is in control of its own company and DLC negotiations/output, it's completely up to them and the artists involved.

@#17 There are already Anamanaguchi and The Black Keys songs available. How is it that people always request bands that have songs released?

Anyway, super excited about more Tears for Fears! Excellent track choice, hoping for more in the future.

Fat Lip and Still Waiting were big for me when I was a teenager. I'm not so much into them now, but I'll get them for when I feel like a nostalgia play (with Puddle of Mudd, POD and Limp Bizkit).

Personally, my worst is Asking Alexandria (Which is a shame tbf, I quite liked Stand up and scream, but live they were absolute $***). Or Skunk Anansie, but that's likely due to not liking the band on record anyway :S
OT: Fat lip's always been 'Meh' in my opinion. I always preferred most of their other stuff (In too deep, No reason and Pieces, if I remember right.) Still's waiting's a pretty good track, however :)

Anyone else surprised they are still adding songs for GH and Rock Band?
Anyways, they should put more Scary Kids Scaring Kids into the game, thats my all time favorite band!

@20 : You fail to understand my point. I do not want to see this shit clogging up the New Releases in the Add-Ons section every week. I, and the majority of other gamers, do not play these games and we want to not have to scroll through hundreds of these friggin' tracks just to find one or two bits of non-RB DLC.

I appreciate it has a fanbase, but given the quantity of stuff they push out weekly, these should all be grouped together in their own section and should be REMOVED from the standard game Add-Ons section.

And the streak of bad releases continues. I suppose this is why I gave up on buying from the "music store" and only buy from the RBN.
